Lectio divina.

In this method of meditative reading, the passage is read prayerfully and given time to come alive/dwell/shimmer inside each individual. The passage is read 3 times, by different people, with a few minutes of silence between each reading. Don't rush the silence! During the silence, each person invites God to lift up a part of the reading to speak to his/her heart and then reflects on the word or phrase, repeating it internally over and over, letting God speak in that word/phrase. After the third reading and silence, invite people prayerfully and briefly to name the word or phrase that caught their attention. Close with the Lord's Prayer or another group prayer. (If the above passages are too lengthy for this type of reading, suggested shortened readings are: Genesis 1:31-2:3, Genesis 2:15, Psalm 104:24-25, Luke 12: 27-28, Romans 8:22-24.)

Drama.

Act out Bible stories with props, characters, sound effects, and more. Make acting "parts" out of the Scripture readings even where they aren't already (for instance, give speaking parts to animals, plants, etc). Imagine and give voice to the possible thoughts, feelings, or actions of the characters. If the story is too hard to act out literally, create group movements and choreography that represent the motion/action/emotion in the verses. Have someone read the story while the group does the movement/choreography to it.

Storytelling.

Rewrite one of the passages for modern times: what would be common language to say this same message? Be creative and have fun! You might choose to work alone, in pairs, or in small groups. Share your re-writings with one another.

"Eco-Justice" is a holistic term that includes efforts to assure justice for all of creation and the human beings who live in it. As Christians, these efforts include all ministries designed to heal and defend creation. Study and stewardship of the environment through faith is also known as "Eco-theology", or "spiritual ecology."

Through spiritual ecology, we strive for social, ecological and economic well-being for all God's Creation: eco-justice. Why?

How do we practice Eco-Theology, or Spiritual ecology? There are many creative ways to introduce these concepts in your youth group.
